From first conversation to a continuous record.

Engagement isn't an onboarding form and a welcome email. It's a structured arc that produces something durable — a plan of record, a folio, and a ledger that keeps going for as long as we work together.

· The arc

Four phases. One direction.

Every engagement moves through the same four phases — and never loses the thread between them.

Phase 01

Discovery.

We map what you have, what you owe, what you’re protecting, and what keeps you up at night. No products discussed. Just the picture, drawn honestly.

Phase 02

Plan of record.

The plan that everything else answers to — goals, cash flow, modeling, and the trade-offs made explicit. Signed, dated, and the baseline against which drift is measured.

Phase 03

The folio.

Your wealth, bound and legible — positions, decisions, plan, governance, and tax in one continuous document, produced and kept current by BAFAos.

Phase 04

Annual review.

The binder re-examined every year — drift corrected, the estate chapter audited, the record signed forward — and between reviews, when life moves, the advisor re-opens the affected chapters at the desk — without waiting for the calendar. The relationship as an ongoing examination, passed.

· The planning journey, scene by scene

Eleven scenes.

The discovery-to-folio journey, told the way you'll actually experience it — eleven moments, each producing a piece of the record.

i.

The opening question.

What is this money for? Before numbers, intent — the question every later decision is checked against.

ii.

The inventory.

Every account, policy, and obligation gathered into one place. The whole picture, no fragments left out.

iii.

The goals.

Retirement, education, legacy, the cabin — named, dated, and assigned a probability we can actually track.

iv.

The cone.

Monte Carlo modeling renders the range of futures — not a single false promise, but an honest spread of outcomes.

v.

The trade-offs.

Spend more now or leave more later; risk or certainty. The choices made explicit, with you in the room.

vi.

The plan of record.

The decisions ratified and signed. The baseline is set — everything after is measured against this.

vii.

The portfolio.

The plan translated into positions — allocation built for your goals, each move recorded as a reasoned decision.

viii.

The governance.

Investment policy, conflicts, and the estate chapter — the rails that keep the plan honest between reviews.

ix.

The folio binding.

Everything composed into one document — the artifact you hold, the firm holds, and your heirs could read.

x.

The statement.

A plainly-written letter, addressed to you and signed by a named person — what happened, and why.

xi.

The review.

A year later, the binder reopened. Drift corrected, the record signed forward, the journey begins its next turn.

These are the eleven scenes as you experience them. Underneath, the same journey runs as eleven stages of planning work — goals and risk through to ongoing review — each one leaving a documented deliverable in the record. BAFAos supports the eleven-stage workflow. When the firm learns of a material life event, the advisor reopens the affected stages rather than waiting for the next annual review.

— The cadence —

The arc isn't a one-time sprint that ends when the folio ships. It's a loop. The plan of record sets a baseline; the annual review measures the household against it and signs the corrections forward. Between annual reviews, the advisory team updates the record when a material event or new information warrants additional work — a sale, a birth, a refinance, a change in the law.

"An engagement you can't audit is a relationship on faith. Ours runs on a record."

What you get from the process is not a feeling of being looked after. It's the evidence of it — standing, legible, and yours, at any moment you care to look.

The opening question costs nothing to answer. Book a first conversation and we'll begin where every engagement begins — with what your money is for.
